Vocational Education: A Crucial Matter for the Nation
The “Vocational Education: A Crucial Matter for the Nation” project is sponsored by the Koç Group and supported by the Ministry of National Education. The project provides scholarship and internship opportunities to vocational school students limited financially. As such, just like all other Koç Group companies, Yapı Kredi employees support the project as voluntary mentors at vocational schools.
In the 2007-2008 academic year, the number of schools receiving scholarships from Koç Holding increased to 250; forty-two of these schools were taken up for mentorship by Yapı Kredi employees. Throughout their high school years, those students qualified to receive scholarships in selected schools are mentored by Yapı Kredi employees.
The vocational school mentors first contact the vocational schools their employers have earmarked and interview students for scholarship qualifications. Then, they stay in touch with their students and assist them with internship selection. The mentors are the link in reaching our schools and in finding opportunities to make their individual contributions through guiding their students.
For My Country:
The anniversary of the founding of Koç Holding, the last Sunday in May, is declared as the day “For My Country”. On this day, all Koç Group employees and dealers participate in various corporate social responsibility projects in their cities. Yapı Kredi employees also support the “For My Country” initiative by voluntarily participating in corporate social responsibility projects. In 2006 and 2007, this project met the needs of the Gebze Application and Training School for the Mentally Disabled. Many Yapı Kredi employees supported the event both materially and emotionally when they rebuilt the application classroom where children attending this school gain fundamental survival skills and the gym where they have physical education classes for healthier physical development.
